Campos
do Jordão (às vezes chamada por engano de Campos
de Jordão), também conhecido como a Suíça
Brasileira, é um município brasileiro do estado
de São Paulo. Localiza-se na Serra da Mantiqueira, a uma
latitude 22º44'22" Sul e a uma longitude 45º35'29" Oeste,
estando a uma altitude de 1.628 metros. Sua população
estimada em 2004 era de cerca de 50.000 habitantes. |

Fundada
em 29 de Abril de 1874, tem como principal atividade econômica
o turismo e é um dos principais destinos de inverno do
Brasil. Está a 160 km de São Paulo (cidade), 350
km do Rio de Janeiro (cidade) e a 500 km de Belo Horizonte. Teve
seu clima classificado como o Melhor do Mundo no Congresso Climatológico
de Paris. |

Campos
do Jordão is a municipality in the state of São
Paulo in Brazil. Its coordinates are 22°44?22?S, 45°35?29?W.
The population in 2004 was about 50,000 and the area is 290.27
km2 The elevation is 1,628 m.
The city's economy is based mainly in tourism; due to its high
elevation and European-way-of-living (constructions and cultures
are mostly German, Swiss or Italian inspired). Economic classes
A and B build their winter countryhouses there and July (the winter
season vacations) sees an enormous influx of visitors (more than
quadrupling the city's population), due in part to an excellent
Winter Festival of Erudite Music which is held there.

state governor has also his Winter residence there.

The
city, due to its elevation, is relatively cold; maximum of 23°
C and minimum of 10°, in the summer; maximum of 12° and
minimum of -6° in the winter (snow is extremely rare).
Campos do Jordão has a very high HDI, compared to most
Brazilian cities. In 2004, its HDI was 0.802. The city can be
reached from São Paulo mainly by road through the Rodovia
Floriano Rodrigues Pinheiro. There is also a picturesque railroad
from Pindamonhagaba, used mostly by tourists. |

Campos do Jordão ist eine

Einwohnern (Stand 1. Januar 2004), östlich der Stadt São
Paulo, 1.628 Meter über dem Meeresspiegel, in den Bergen
der Serra da Mantiqueira gelegen. |

Der Wintersportort liegt in
einem Tal mit zahlreichen, im schweizer Stil erbauten Fachwerkhäusern.
Hauptattraktion, außer der Stadt selbst, ist der 2.050 Meter
hoch gelegene "Pedra do Baú", ein Granitfelsen
mit einer Höhe von 330 Metern, der von weiten sichtbar aus
der Landschaft emporragt.
Campos do Jordão ist in drei Teile aufgeteilt: das Handelszentrum
Abernessia mit dem Busbahnhof, Capivari und Jaguaribe, in dem
die meisten Restaurants, Hotels und Boutiquen liegen. |

In
der Gegend von Capivari befinden sich sehr gut markierte Pfade
zum Wandern. In den höheren Lagen finden sie noch die Araucáriabäume,
die einst die Vegetation beherrschten. Um eine Aussicht auf die
Stadt und den Paraíbatal zu bekommen, nimmt man am besten
den Skilift in Capivari, der sie zum "Morro do Elefante"
bringt. Dort können auch Pferde angemietet werden. (Fonte
